Some information regarding the suggested donations
for events at the Buddhist Place.

Dana

is the Pali word for generosity and is considered one
of the paramitas (perfections or virtues) to be cultivated
and practiced, which are instrumental in the freeing of the
heart and mind.  In this spirit, the Buddha’s teachings are
offered by donation. While we have suggested a donation
(that is meant to minimally cover our logistical expenses)
we recognize that this may still be out of reach for some
persons. If this is the case, please give whatever amount
you are able, if any.  As well, if one has the means to offer
more than the suggested donation, we welcome it
gratefully.

Traditionally, teachers of the Dhamma (teachings of the
Buddha) provide these teachings freely and receive
offerings in return to sustain themselves and their
communities. Many teachers live totally off donations
while travelling extensively to teach. The suggested
donation only covers expenses and does not include
payment to the teachers. We encourage participants to
express their gratitude for the teachings by providing
dana in the box entitled“Donation to Teacher”.

Please make cheques payable to: The Buddhist Place

Tax Receipts will be issued at the end of the year for
donations of $10 or more when accompanied by your
name and mailing address.

The gift of the Dhamma surpasses all gifts.
